Valorização de Agro-Alimentos

O Grupo de Valorização de Agro-Alimentos está focado na otimização dos sistemas de produção animal em condições Mediterrânicas, com particular interesse no estudo e desenvolvimento de estratégias nutricionais para melhorar a eficiência alimentar, a qualidade dos produtos e a sustentabilidade ambiental. Os trabalhos desenvolvidos centram-se principalmente nas seguintes áreas de investigação:
1. Uso de recursos alimentares alternativos, como subprodutos agroindustriais e plantas endógenas na dieta de ruminantes;
2. Metabolismo lipídico ruminal e estratégias alimentares para melhorar a composição em ácidos gordos na gordura dos ruminantes;
3. Abordagens nutricionais para melhorar o estado antioxidante dos animais e prevenir a oxidação lipídica nos produtos.
